STRUCTURAL PEST CONTROL SERVICES
As a Branch III pest control company, we inspect homes for the presence of wood-destroying pests and organisms (such as termites, powderpost beetles and dryrot), as well as conditions that may contribute to future infestations and damage (such as roof and plumbing leaks, faulty grade conditions and earth-wood contacts). We provide a written report with our findings, recommendations, and bids for repair and\or treatment of any problems discovered.
Our approach to structural pest control addresses the following three fundamental questions:
What is the pest or organism causing the problem?
What is the source of the infestation and/or the underlying conditions in the building that are contributing to the growth of the pest or organism?
Which control measures will be the best options for eliminating the infestation, repairing the damage, and preventing future problems, utilizing integrated pest management methods?
Pest Control Inspection and Report

TYPES OF INSPECTIONS — A pest control inspection can be limited to a particular location or locations in the building (the subarea, the bathroom, the laundry room, or the exterior, for example) or the inspection can be of the entire building, inside and out. Detached buildings may or may not be included. Pest Control inspections may not be limited to a particular pest or organism.

INSPECTION COSTS — Prices for inspections are based on the amount of time it takes the inspector to complete the inspection. A complete inspection of a single-family home is usually $275. A limited inspection usually varies from $150-$200. Please call for an estimate.

GENERAL LIMITATION — Structural Pest Control Inspections are limited to visible and accessible areas. Our inspector will look for clues to hidden damage or infestation. He may ask permission to perform test holes in the stucco, or to open up inaccessible areas for further inspection. For termites, we may use an acoustical emission device to find the source of the infestation. This device (see Termite Tracker) helps to locate termite infestations with a minimum of disruption and damage.

Structural Pest Control Repairs

Live Oak Structural repairs buildings that have been damaged by wood-destroying pests and organisms. These repairs cover a very broad range of projects, from replacing damaged windows, to removing and replacing damaged wall framing and stucco, to removing and replacing damaged foundations and floor framing.

The main emphasis of our repairs is to be sure we have determined what condition caused the problem in the first place, to correct that problem as much as possible, and to perform the repair so that the problem does not recur. For example, if the foundation has been damaged because of poor or no drainage, our report will recommend a solution to the drainage problem in addition to the foundation repairs. Waterproofing and flashing, when performed correctly, will prolong the life of the building for many years.

Pest Treatments

Live Oak Structural’s philosophy regarding the use of pesticides is that, when necessary, each application should be designed to target the specific infestation in terms of both source and scope. In this way we are able to apply the least amount of pesticide needed for effective control. When evidence of an infestation is discovered, we first try to determine if the infestation is active. In many circumstances, the evidence is old and inactive. In this case, we recommend to remove the evidence and monitor the area in a year or two. If the infestation is active, our inspector will prescribe a pest treatment to specifically address the source and scope of that particular infestation.  In this way, we minimize the use of pesticides as much as possible, and save money for the homeowner.
